A Future Timeline for Automobiles
http://futurist.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/05/a_future_timel...
Submitted by transfuture 13 months, 2 weeks, 18 hours ago
Many streams of accelerating technological change, from energy to The Impact of Computing, will find themselves intersecting in one of the largest consumer product industries of all. Over 70 million automobiles were produced worldwide in 2006, with rapid market penetration underway in India and China. Indisputably, cars greatly affect the lives of consumers, the economies of nations, and the market forces of technological change. I thus present a speculative timeline of technological and economic events that will happen for automobiles. This has numerous points of intersection with the Future Timeline for Energy. 2033: human evolution arrives at the crossroads

What will our lives be like in 25 years? Of course nobody can predict the future with 100% accuracy, but by combining present-day knowledge with expected science and technology breakthroughs, we can create a plausible scenario about what life might be like in 2033. Today’s biotech research will soon correct many human flaws including vulnerability to disease and telltale signs of aging. Scientists are now learning to regrow cells, tissues and organs, and introduce them into our bodies without surgery. By 2020, we will experience the full benefits of the biotech revolution, gaining tools that will drastically enhance this “house” we call body and brain. Advanced nanotech, expected in full force by the 2020s, is the next step in the march towards our 2033 future. This includes counter top nano-replicators providing food, clothing, and most physical products at little or no cost, keeping us financially worry-free – and the “killer-ap”, tiny nanobots cruising through veins and neurons protecting our forever young and healthy body 24/7 from pathogens and other dangers. The final element in the quest for this far-out future, lie in supercomputers and artificial intelligence – powerful sophisticated machines that, by 2033, will surpass human intelligence. Development of these “smart” machines is as inevitable as Moore’s Law, the 1965 dictum predicting geometric growth of semiconductor power. Gordon Moore himself said, “Silicon intelligence will evolve to the point where it will be difficult to tell computers from humans”. Famed physicist Stephen Hawking agrees. “At the moment, computers show no sign of intelligence. This is not surprising, because present day computers are less complex than the brain of an earthworm. But it seems to me that if very complicated chemical molecules can operate in humans to make them intelligent, then equally complicated electronic circuits can also make computers act in intelligent ways”. Streets are future cinemas thanks to GPS Film
http://www.extendlimits.nl/index.php/2008/11/04/streets-are-...
Submitted by transfuture 12 months, 2 weeks, 4 days, 8 hours ago
The 4th of September could be day we will remember because it is the day a new concept of watching movies is revealed. Filmmaker Scott Hessels together with film and engineering students at Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University have invented a new way of watching movies based on the viewer’s location and movement. It is location based cinema and I think… wow, this could be great! Join discussion...

The 2020s – a brief glimpse into an exciting future
http://www.positivefuturist.com/default-blog.asp?Display=889

Forward thinkers believe we will experience more discoveries in the next 20 years than we did during the last 200. In The Singularity is Near, author Ray Kurzweil explains how the future will change the way we live, work, and perceive our world. The following describes some advances we can expect in the 2020s: Computers and TVs will merge. The computer, keyboard, and mouse are gone. Information from the net, along with 3D-TV programs, movies, and holograms are all accessed by a system that reads our voice and gestures, and then displays images on walls, cell phones, or directly onto our eyes without using a screen. Pictured: The robot that can pull faces just like a human being
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1085059/Pictu...
Submitted by transfuture 12 months, 2 weeks, 3 days, 15 hours ago
Scientists have created the first 'humanoid' robot that can mimic the facial expressions and lip movements of a human being. 'Jules' - a disembodied androgynous robotic head - can automatically copy the movements, which are picked up by a video camera and mapped on to the tiny electronic motors in his skin. It can grin and grimace, furrow its brow and 'speak' as his software translates real expressions observed through video camera 'eyes'. Join discussion...

Thought Talking could become our favorite communication mode by 2030
http://positivefuturist.com/archive/221.html
Submitted by transfuture 13 months, 2 weeks, 2 days, 17 hours ago
Humans use many different channels of communication. Yet, despite thousands of years of development, we regard verbal channels – what we say and write – as most important. But scientists are realizing that non-verbal communication is just as important as words. It provides as much, if not more information about what people think and feel. One of the unique characteristics that distinguish us from animals is the ability to try and guess what others are thinking and feeling. According to psychologists, this sort of intuitive mind-reading lays the foundation for nearly all of our meaningful relationships. Despite its importance though, researchers have yet to unravel exactly how this intuition works. Enter University of Reading's Dr. Kevin Warwick, whose pioneering research into neural implants has enabled him to control machines and communicate with others just by using his thoughts. 7 revolutions towards 2025
http://www.extendlimits.nl/index.php/2008/10/13/7-revolution...
Submitted by transfuture 13 months, 2 weeks, 2 days, 16 hours ago
Most governments and organizations are worried about the creditcrisis but there are some bigger revolutions ahead of us which need attention of organizations and governments. The CSIS (Center for Strategic and International Studies ) identified 7 revolutions of change: population, government, technology, spread of information, conflict, resource managment, and economic integration. The project for this is named (project 7R(evolutions) and the 7R’s are the most important trends towards the year 2025. Well let’s have a look at these 7R’s. revolution 1. Population There is a tremendous growth of population in those countries which are least capable of it. 60 Percent of the people will life in cities by 2025. Join discussion...

What will be changed by 2025?
http://www.extendlimits.nl/index.php/2008/10/11/what-will-be...
Submitted by transfuture 13 months, 2 weeks, 2 days, 16 hours ago
The future holds many new technologies and developments. But what are some of the things people might believe will change? Here are some examples and of course let us know what you thing will be changed by 2025. In the year 2025 the following things will be changed: - Students will not attend schools anymore but will learn from their homes via the internet. - Physical money doesn’t exists anymore - Cancer and heart disease deaths are expected to diminish or disappear completely according to the National Institutes of Health. - Organ transplants won’t be needed. Doctors will grow new organs from a patient’s own tissues. - False teeth will be replaced by stem cell therapies that grow natural teeth. Clinical trials of this new procedure are underway in Europe now. - Your signature on a legal document will be considered quaint because of biometric Identification – iris, facial print, and voice-recognition. You become your own secure ID. Join discussion...
